Last Post for 2015 !!!!!!!!!!

Hello Blogger World  
Today is the last post of 2015, but I'll keep posting in the holidays. 
So bye bye blogger world. But before I go on holiday, I will reflect on this year. This year was the best ever, and I hope next year is the same as this year. My favourite event this year was the Year 5 & 6 camp and the Year 6 camp to Kawau Island. But I still be blogging. So good bye blogger world.

Problem Solving

Animation form TERM 4

This is my animation for Term 4. We are learning about Adaptations, animals and their habitats. Like a Polar bear is an animal which lives in the Arctic environments. It has a lot of adaptations that help it survive in the cold temperatures.

 But in the second part of our animation we have to adapt the polar bear so it can survive in the desert. For an example, how does the Polar bear keep warm well good question because a Polar Bear has a layer of fat under its skin which helps it stay warm in the water when it goes for a swim.

 It also has a thick layer of fur. In my Animation there is Polar bear who will survive in the desert, by eating plants and insects. It will be the colour cream so it can camouflage in the desert, and it also has no layer of fat underneath its skin so it can not get warm in the hot temperatures.

Rockets are a Go !

Rockets are a Go !
Today the year 6 and 5 block had two mystery visitors, Gerry and Emily from New Zealand Aerospace Education. They came in and taught us history of Rockets, Science around forces of rockets,different types of Rockets and different Motors for Rockets, we were very lucky to build our, very own Rockets in groups of 3 and launch them after lunch today on the Reserve. We had such a great experience with them. I can’t wait till their next visit.

What is Adaptation ?

WALT :  Define Adaptations. 

The process of change by which an organism or species becomes better suited to its environment. Adaptations are Habits that have changed to help animals or creature to Survive in its environment. I think adaptation means a creature or animal has change
d its habits to survive in its environment.

For an ExampleA Human being really likes Charles junior. But it's really bad for it's health, so that's why the human being trials for a week to, not eat Charles junior and eat healthy food. Which also is called a Adaptation, because the person has been eating Charles junior and then stops eating for a week, and if the trial works it's going to stop eating.

Virtual Tours

Hooray, It’s time to go to a Zoo ! Today in Room 6 literacy class we are on a Virtual Tour of San Diego Zoo and Safari Park. Should be an exciting Experience, except our class is going on a Virtual tour of a Zoo. Can we even call it a Zoo Trip, because we’re just on a Virtual Tour looking at small screens of our Chromebooks ?

Today Room 6 Literacy class, have been writing about our Virtual Tour of San Diego Zoo and Safari Park.We went on to a Website about San Diego Zoo and Safari Park. We explore the Zoo animals and we also listened to what the Zoo keepers have to say about the animals. Walt : research animals and their adaptations. 
My Chosen animal is the Penguins. It lives in Antarctic.It has adapted to survive in the polar region by these things. Penguins are flightless birds. While other birds have wings for flying, penguins have adapted flippers to help them swim in the water.Most penguins live in the Southern Hemisphere.The Galapagos Penguin is the only penguin specie that ventures north of the equator in the wild.Large penguin populations can be found in countries such as New Zealand, Australia, Chile, Argentina and South Africa.No penguins live at
the North Pole.Penguins eat a range of fish and other sea life that they catch underwater.Penguins can drink sea water.Penguins spend around half their time in water and the other half on land.The Emperor Penguin is the tallest of all penguin species, reaching as tall as 120 cm, 47 in the height.Emperor Penguins can stay underwater for around 20 minutes at a time.Emperor Penguins often huddle together to keep warm in the cold temperatures of Antarctica.King Penguins are the second largest penguin specie. They have four layers of feathers to help keep them warm on the cold subarctic islands where they breed.Chinstrap Penguins get their name from the thin black band under their head. At times it looks like they’re wearing a black helmet, which might be useful as they’re considered the most aggressive type of penguin.Crested penguins have yellow crests, as well as red bills and eyes.

Description of Learning : 
This Term we are learning about Survive, Outwit, Outlast and Outsmart. So this Week for our Reading Activity we are learning about Habitats and have been Studying them. The Paua Shells have been learning about Rainforest and Tropical Rainforests and the animals that live in it. I have also learnt about what sort of animals there are. For an Example : Herbivorous mammals that live in the forest canopy include flying squirrels, monkeys and sloths.

Fear Factor Challenge

Frog Eggs and Swamp Water Gross ! I guess we were having a Fear Factor Challenge. It’s a Show that people do gross things and weird challenges. But before we had our very own one we, watched a video that had two people eating  Bugs, Blood, Worms, Rat hair chips and Maggots (the blood was real.) Now it’s time for Room 6 Fear Factor. And  I can’t wait to see who are the Constants ?

So in the First Slide I wrote how much each seat cover costs, which is twenty six dollars. And then I did how much did it cost to buy seat covers for all 5 seats. My Brithday Bash !!!

Presents! Cake ! And Loud Music !
Yeah ! If you guessed it was a Party. Then you’re correct ! Today I will be talking about my birthday party.

On Tuesday morning I woke up at 9.00am. And went to the living room, there I watched T.V until the all of my family woke up.

My favorite part of my Birthday was when I got Dressed.On my birthday I wore a kind of pink and reddish dress. 

The Material’s color was pink and reddish dress with black. It looked really nice and comfortable.

My Second Favorite part on my Birthday was when I cut the cake. The Flavor my cake was Chocolate, because it was my favorite flavor.

My Thoughts about my birthday are really happy ones. Because I had a overjoyed day.I really liked my presents. And I really like my Birthday Bash.

My Highlights of Term 3

Hello everyone 
The final day of Term 3 at Pt England school has passed. But I have to say that my highlight of the term was definitely the School Production. The School Production was amazing, spectacular and other words that I can't express. The first time I saw the Production was this week on Tuesday I went by myself and turns out it was so interesting. So that's my highlight. Have a GREAT holiday everyone.  And for people who like my blog and visiting it , then I've got GREAT news for you because I'm going to be blogging in the Holidays and during that I'm going to be blogging really well.

Acrostic Poem

Our Little Friend

Walt: think about my purpose and reader by planning my recount.
Cracks, Screams,  Races !
Did you ever have a little friend ? Well Mr Goodwin’s literacy class have had an experience of having a little friend and would like to share with you.

Our Little friends were little eggs! I thought our teacher had gone insane! Anyway, when we got our little friends, we had to be really really careful in case we drop them. Me and Hethet were panthers for this activity. When we had to draw a face on the egg. And we also got to name them. Me and Hethet name our little friend Abby.

After naming, and drawing a face on our eggs, the whole literacy class went to the senior park. On the way, to the park Me and Hethet took turns holding Abby. Hethet went first. By the time we got to the park Hethet was holding the egg.

Do you know what we did when we got to the park. Well I’ll give you a little hint : balancing an egg ! Well if you guess balancing an egg then you are correct ! So Anyway when we got to the park we stopped by the corner and Mr Goodwin gave our next instructions. After he first gave our instructions he gave out spoons. It was really hard, because we had to balance our little friends on spoons.

What I thought about this weird experience is  that was kind of fun, some of our classmates dropped their little friends and some ended up wit
h cracks in them. It also was really hard balancing an egg on a spoon, but fortunately I was last to balance Abby on the spoon.I had a great time and I wish to do this next time. But next time I would like to be panthers wit someone else. Because Hethet was sad after giving our egg back.

Description of Learning :
Today we learnt how to write purpose. To write our paragraph we did egg racing, we learnt how to write about our topic and don't write about something else.

Walt : We are learning to use onomatopoeia to help create interest in our writing 

Description of Learning : 
Last week, Ms Tito's literacy group, (Known also as Mr Goodwin's literacy group) learned about Onomatopoeia. Onomatopoeia is a word that mimics the sound of a object or action it refers to.When you pronounce a word, it will mimic it's sound. E.g : Zip ! My dress was fastened and the girl was finally ready for the wedding. Anyway, our task was to go on to Google, then we had to type up Onomatopoeia. After that, we had to choose an Onomatopoeia to draw. As soon as we are done doing that. Then we had to think about what the word is used to mimic the sound of, and then we draw it. Then we had to colour, cut out and take a photo to display on our blog.

Number Pattern

Walt: identify and solve number patterns. 

Description of Learning : 
This week Mr Goodwin's maths class is focusing on Patterns. The task we did is about identifying missing numbers and the rule for a growing number pattern. For an example : 9,15,12,?,? and now you have to fill in the missing numbers you also have to try and find out what the rule for that number pattern is. So What the Answers are 27,33 and 39. And the rule for that growing number pattern is that your count in 6, so every time you count on you count 6.

Have you heard of team four’s Market Day ?

Well you’re in luck because I'm going to be talking about the Team 4 Market Day. It happened on Friday last week. It was so much fun and crowded with students and teacher looking for products to buy. And it was Great !! Want to find out more Info ? Keep Reading !

Market day was the biggest event in the whole term three.The reason why we had a market was to sell and buy products that other trade and enterprise groups had been making. We had a lot of trade and enterprise groups, they were called Kitchen, Jewellery & Accessories, Music, Custom Stationery, Toys and Homeware. When we first were in our groups we had to get into business panthers. My Business panthers are Heather and Henslahval, ( We call her Lahval for short).

Everyone started setting up for the Market, that was happening after morning tea. In the year 6 area, Homeware, Custom Stationery and Music were setting up their stations. In the year 5 and 4 were the Toys and Jewellery & Accessories who were setting up their stations. Which only left one group which was Kitchen, the kitchen group was in the mid of the two classes, in the bay where students  play when it’s raining outside.

When the market was started, Me and my business panther Heather were first on selling. We had a few people coming to our stall in the beginning, until we got to the mid of the trade and enterprise market. Because we had nothing left that’s why we started to make some more products to sell. A Lot of people came to our stall it was really fun. We even had some visitors visiting groups and purchasing products. We made a Necklace sets, Necklaces, bracelets, Rings and much more.

I had a lot of fun but I didn’t really buy anything, because I was saving for an auction. I did order products from other groups. I ordered a soap with a minion on it from the Homeware, a squishy ball from the Toys and a Maths book cover from Custom Stationery. I already got my Maths book cover, I'm just waiting for my other orders. I ordered had a minion on it, with a ukulele and it’s going to smell like blueberry.

My thoughts about the market,  were really good thoughts.  Basically because we were really having a good time at the market place. And I made a lot of money, by the end of the market. And I started with 12pt. But I did wish that I would have made more jewellery. Cause we kinda ran out of jewellery. But we did pay off our dent to Mrs Mackinlay, because we needed to pay 15pt to Mrs Mackinlay, cause she brought us the materials. So that’s why we had to pay her, then after we payed her we could keep the money we got from the clients and customers.

Task Description : 

In this Task, Mr Goodwin's literacy class did a recount about the team 4 market day. In my Writing Rubric, I think I got a three out of  four for writing for my reader. Because my writing is easy to understand and I tried to tell the reader what it was like to be there by giving details and my thoughts. And in Purpose I got a 4 out of 4, because my text fully meets the purpose.The Message is clear all through the recount. Also in my introduction I got a 2 out of 4 because my introduction gets some buy in from audience and they can understand what I am going to write about. And in Paragraph topics I got a 2 out of 4, which cause I have tried to follow my plan.Most my paragraphs are about 1 big idea and I have added some detail.
