Ebola VS Black Death

Two mortal Diseases might be the Same ?

Scientists have been researching and have been starting to believe that both disease might be the same. Researchers Christopher Duncan and Susan Scott, forge an argument that the Black death was most likely caused a hemorrhagic virus like Ebola. In order to compare both disease, they had to draw detailed comparisons. The duo looked at both ways from the symptoms to how they both spread.

The Black Plague is a disease which has many names such as: Bubonic Plague, Disastrous mortal disease, Yersinia Pestis, The Great Mortality, The Great Plague, The Black Death (commonly known as) and The Black Plague. The Black Death is a disease which happened in the 13th century during 1348 - 1350,  It killed one third of Europe’s population.

This disease was caused by Ship Rats or commonly known as House Rats who like living near people. It spreads by fleas who are infected by sick rats. The fleas got infected because rats which they feed on got sick and started to die. Which cause the starving fleas to turn on humans.

The Ebola virus disease, Ebola hemorrhagic fever,  or for short EVD's first appearance was in 1976 in 2 coincident, one in what is now, Nzara, South Sudan, and the other in Yambuku, Democratic Republic of Congo. This Disease’s latest appearance was around March 2014 in West Africa.  The latest appearance occurred in a village near the Ebola river, which is where the disease got its name.

It is thought that fruit bats are the natural hosts of the Ebola virus. Which means  that the Ebola virus was introduced into Human population by people having close contact with the blood, secretions, organs or other bodily fluids of infected animals. The contact would probably be with chimpanzees, gorillas, Fruit bats, monkeys, forest antelopes, porcupines who are found ill, dead or in the rainforest.
The symptoms for the black death are a bit similar to the Ebola Virus. The Black death symptoms are : Painful swollen buboes, Chills, Fever, Headache, muscle weakness, Abdominal pain, Tissue bleeding and death. They both seem the same but the EVD(Ebola virus disease) however has many more symptoms and is deadlier.

However the Ebola Virus symptoms are : Nausea and Vomiting, Diarrhea (may be bloody), red eyes, raised rash, Chest Pain and Cough, Stomach Pain, Severe weight loss, Bleeding usually from the eyes. People nearly die from other orifices, such as ears, nose and rectum.

Both, Ebola and the Black plague are pretty similar, due to the way both diseases have been caused which was animals. The second similarity is that most people don’t recover or survive from both disease, meaning both disease are equally deadly.

I think that both disease are the same, because they both are mortal diseases and are contagiously deadly. They had been transmitted by animals, the Black Death was transmitted by rat fleas and the Ebola Virus was transmitted by Fruit bats.

Ebola VS Black Plague

Last week, we started reading an article about the Black plague. The black plague was an contagious disease which took place in the 13th century around 1348- 1350, this disease killed one third of Europe's population. So this week, we had to create a Venn diagram about the Ebola virus and Black death. During this task, we had to write a bit about the Black plague and Ebola virus. After that we had to find similarities between the two diseases. As I was competing the task, I found out that the Ebola virus has a lot of things in common with the black plague. Check it out !

Black Plague Solutions

Last week, we were reading about the black plague, and this week we have to create solutions for this disease. Our task was to create a way in which they could have lessened the amount of people catching the disease when it was going around. Meaning we had to find ways to separate the infected people who are healthy. In the presentation above, I have created solutions to prevent the disease. My first solution was to separate people who are infected and who aren't. This would help decrease the amount of people getting sick. I have created 4 solutions check it out !

The Black Death

This week in Miss Clark's Literacy Class, two of her groups have been reading about the Black Death. The Black death is known as many names such as : Bubonic Plague, Disastrous mortal Disease, Yersinia Pestis, The Great Mortality and the Great Plague. During this task, our WALT was to compare and contrast, meaning we were to look at different people's views and then compare. This Disease happened in the 14th century and killed 50 million people. We also learnt that the disease originated in China, and it was caused by Black Rats, commonly known as the House Rat or the Ship Rat. After doing the follow up questions we had to create a flow diagram. My flow diagram is on the last slide check it out !

Geometry

This week in Miss Berry's Maths class, we're focusing on Geometry. Our WALT for this week is : understanding shapes. Which meant to learn and understand the shapes. In the following presentation we had to watch a video from Khan Academy and complete the following questions. We had to answer question such as : Which shape is a trapezoid. And then we had to pick one of the three shapes, then explain why the shape you have chosen a trapezoid. After answering the follow up questions we had to do the extension work. The extension work was to find out the perimeter and area in a shape. I was pretty familiar with this part of geometry, because on maths whizz there was a lesson on this subject. Check it out !

Donald Trump US Election

This week in Miss Clark’s Literacy class, the Louis Sachar's have been reading an article about Donald Trump and US Election. During this article our WALT was to Compare and contrast the differences between peoples views. Meaning we were learning to look at different people’s views, then compare and contrast. While we were reading this article, we learned about two different election parties. In New Zealand there’s Labor, National, Green and in America there’s different groups such as, Democrats and Republicans. Democrats believe in different tax for different types of families. For an example : Democrats believe that if a family has low income they should have to pay a different tax. But the Republicans believe in there shouldn’t be different taxes for different families, and that low and middle income families should pay the same amount of taxes as everyone else.

Cyber Bullied

Cyber Bullied
Cyberbullying is the most cases why children commit suicide. Cyber bullying must be stopped, and if you ever get cyber bullied then tell an adult or someone you trust.  This problem occurred to a kid at a school a few years ago :

Jonathan is a solitary kid who’s best friend is a dog. He aces all  of his classes in comparison to any other average kid, he fails at any physical activities. After school everyday he arrives home to his parents yelling at each other, like their lions attacking each other.

The next day as he was entering his house, it was especially quiet. He headed towards the kitchen to get himself a snack, when he was stopped in his tracks by his mum and was told to sit down in the living room. As he did what he was told, his mind was wondering “what’s happening ?”.

As he slumped himself on one of the couches, his parents sat opposite to him and talk him the news. As his mum began “ We have something to tell you, we are getting a divorce”. Jonathan wasn’t shock at all, he just gave a little nod. Jonathon already knew his parents were getting a divorce. The night before, he overheard his parents talking about it.

That night Jonathan logged on to his mail, saw a ton of messages. Those messages weren’t ordinary, they were negative messages. As he went and clicked on one, he readed what it said “ you’re a weirdo, people don’t talk to u because they think you’re weird!”. Jonathan quickly clicked out of it and trashed the rest of the negative messages.

The next couple of weeks Jonathon was staying at his Mum’s house with his pal Buddy. When he stayed at his Mum’s, he always checked his mail for any messages. But the only type of message he got were nasty ones. He felt miserable, he didn’t eat much or play with Buddy.
One night as Jonathan came from school, he logged on to his mail as usual. While he was waiting, he decided to get himself a snack and headed towards the kitchen. As he was going downstairs, Jonathan's mum entered his room to put away some laundry.

As she was set Jonathan’s laundry on his bed, her eyes landed on Jonathan’s laptop which was open. She put down the laundry basket and quickly picked up the laptop. When she did, her eyes widen with shock from seeing how many nasty massages her son got. She decided to open one, so she clicked on the first one. Jonathan’s mum was worried about her son receiving these mean messages.

That night when Jonathan came upstairs, his mum was waiting for him. Jonathan came upstairs and headed down the hallway to his room, the first one on the right. He opened his room and saw his mum in there, and said “Mum, what are you doing in here?”. And his mum replied “I was putting away some laundry, when I saw your email open”. Jonathan’s mum talked to Jonathan about him getting cyber bullied.

The next day, Jonathan and his Mum arrived at his school. They headed towards the office and asked if they could talk to the Principal. The reception let them straight through to a small perfectly tidy office. As they entered, a tall dark figure was staring out into the bright sky.

They all sat down and Jonathan’s Mum started to inform the principal, about what was going on. The principal understood at once, and knew who the bully was. The principal told Jonathan and his mum to wait for him in his office. After a while he arrives back with a tall bulky looking kid. His face had a big black long eyebrow with big bulging eyes, and a fat nose.

He introduces the boy to Jonathan’s Mum, as she sees him says” So you’re the one who’s bullying my son online?”. And the Bulky tall looking kid gives a slight nod, the principal says “ This is Morris, Mrs Henderson”. Then Principal Batterson asks the bulky looking boy “ Why have you been bullying Jonathan?” and Morris says “ Yeah, because he’s a lonely little nerd”. Principal Batterson says “ Stop it, because this school is an anti bullying school so you’re doing cafeteria duty after school for 6 weeks”.

Principal Batterson tells Morris that he’ll be ringing up his parents. After sending Morris back to class, Principal Batterson thanks Miss Henderson for telling him about the problem. So from this experience, Jonathan made friends who’s names are : Tim Parker and Jacob Armstrong. Jonathan learned to tell someone if there’s a problem and he never got bullied from that day on.

Escape from Afghanistan

This week in Miss Clark's Literacy class, the Louis Sachar's WALT for this week is to : Analyse the cultural context within the text. Which means to think about the culture and cultural environment in the text. In the Text, the women have to hide their faces and the men have more power. The text this week is called Escape from Afghanistan. The text is based about a girl named Ahmed and her mother, who are travelling from Kabul to Quetta. In the text, the girl has lost her father, and had received a hand-carried letter from a travel. The letter was from her mother's cousin who lives in Quetta. I thought this week’s reading text was pretty cool because before I read this story I didn’t know much about Afghanistan. Now I have read this story and I know a bit more than about Afghanistan.
